Lime Saddle Marina begins $3 million rebuild

Oroville, Calif.—Located on Lake Oroville in northern California, Lime Saddle Marina is set to begin a $3 million plan to rebuild the marina after it was destroyed in a 2002 storm and temporarily rebuilt afterward, according to a local newspaper Paradise Post.

The first $1.5 million phase began in early April with new extra thick galvanized steel floating docks, by Altantic-Meeco, scheduled to hit the water and be completed by June 1. Forever Resorts bought the marina and as of Oct. 1, 2007, became the official operator. By contract, Forever Resorts is required to make $3 million worth of improvements to the marina.

Lori Prieto, marina office manager, said 80 covered slips are being added in the first phase. Each sells for about $325 a month and includes secured, 24-hour access to customer boats. The new covered slips will be 13 feet wide by 36 feet long and 14 feet tall.

Courtesy slips are being added next to the launch ramp for customers to park their boats while they park their trailers in the parking lot, marina Operations Manager John Prieto said. Improvements to the dock also include better handicap access with five-foot wide fingers on handicap accessible slips. Also in the works for the marina are concrete decking, a new gas dock, pumping dock, store, on water restaurant, and a widened launch ramp.

The second phase of the project will start around April of 2009 and will include a new tackle shop, snack bar, retail shop, office space, and a first for the marina—flushing toilets.

Phase one of the improvements should continue for the next couple of months, but work should be wrapped up by the time the summer season is in full swing, said Bill Harper, marina general manager. The crews are working hard to ensure the construction doesn’t interfere with the boating public, he added.
