16th Annual Maine Boat & Home Show Brings Water and Land Together

The 16th Annual Maine Boat & Home Show was held August 10 to 12 at Harbor & Buoy Parks in Rockland. Maine’s only in-water boat show was founded in 2003 by Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors magazine. The event attracts thousands of attendees from all over the country and world.

The event hosted 60 boats in the water and 40 more on land encompassing Maine-built boats from canoes to million-dollar yachts. Boat accessories such as canoe racks, electric bicycles and scooters were also featured in tents next to yacht brokers, insurance agents and financial advisors.

Different from other shows, this one also showcases Maine-made furniture, jewelry and art, as well as home decks, tiny houses and “glamping” tents.

Journey’s End Marina sponsored the Working the Coast: Charting the Future tent that displayed large engines, electronics and other marine gear and technology. Owls Head Transportation Museum had a tent to display two antique launches, and in the Yachting Solutions tent attendees could discuss boat and engine options. The Small Boat Love-In gathered owners of boats under 22 feet to talk about the benefits of small boats.

A highlight of the show was the World Champion Boatyard Dog competition where dogs chased frisbees, chewed stuffed lobsters and went swimming.
