SOBA Releases Guide for Boating Infrastructure Grant Applicants

The States Organization for Boating Access (SOBA) has released, “An Applicant’s Guide to the Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Program. Developed through SOBA’s BIG Best Management Practices Taskforce, the guide is designed to assist marina applicants in producing competitive, quality BIG applications. The first chapters cover the basics of determining what a BIG grant entails and assessing if a project qualifies for the grant. Later chapters provide information on specific parts of the application including developing a project summary and project statement, creating a budget narrative, and addressing the ranking criteria. The guide outlines specific frameworks to help applicants stay organized during grant planning and submission. A sample Tier 2 (nationally competitive up to $1.5 million) is included.

The guide is published in digital format to allow for real-time updates and changes to the BIG program. It can be downloaded at no cost from the publications page on the SOBA website.
