Fisher Phillips Provides Covid-19 Resources

Fisher Phillips is working to help employers navigate the COVID-19 crisis. For many, that may be without direct support of a Human Resources department. Below are free resources to provide some guidance.

  1. Fisher Phillips website – the homepage of the firm’s website has numerous resources available including FAQ documents on the COVID-19 topic. The website is fisherphillips.com.
  2. Family Medical Leave Act – the current legislation passed by the Senate may have a significant impact on many businesses with the expansion of eligibility and coverage of FMLA, paid leave, emergency leave and job restoration. Learn more about these issues from this Final. 3.23.20. AMI Webinar Coronavirus Presentation.
  3. Seek legal counsel – if a business expects some type of interruption that may require layoffs, terminations or some other major change, speak to counsel before implementing changes. Conditions are changing daily (almost hourly), and you will want to ensure you are complying with the law, if you are forced to make changes. If you have a need for legal guidance, please reach out to Travis Vance or Todd Logsdon. Vance and Logsdon are co-chairs of Fisher Phillips Workplace Safety Practice Group. They can be reached at tvance@fisherphillips.com and tlogsdon@fisherphillips.com.
  4. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division released the required notification poster for the Families First Coronavirus Response Act(FFCRA) that will soon need to be posted in many workplaces – and distributed to remote workers – across the country. In a nutshell, all employers covered by the paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) (i.e., certain public sector employers and private sector employers with fewer than 500 employees) are required to post this notice. The posting requirements including FAQ’s can be found here.
