Work Underway on Lake Wylie Marina

Morningstar Marinas has announced that it is building a brand-new marina on Lake Wylie in Belmont, North Carolina.

Morningstar Marinas at McLean is located in the new community of McLean on the North Carolina/South Carolina state line. It will include drystack storage for 300 boats 18 feet to 26 feet, as well as 35 wet slips that can handle vessels up to 30 feet.

The wet slips will offer full services, including a dock hop valet service, electric, water and Wi-Fi, and an upland fuel dispenser will accommodate boater’s fueling needs. There will also be a ships’ store and a waterfront restaurant.

“Lake Wylie is very underserved in the dry storage space,” said Steve Hinshaw, principal of NW Lake Wylie. “We are seeing a population explosion, in the Charlotte Metro region and specifically in the Lake Wylie Area…The marina is being built within McLean, a 700-acre master plan community started in 2015, which upon completion will have 950 residential units and neighborhood commercial/restaurants.”

Bellingham Marine is building and installing the wooden floating docks for the marina. Planning for the marina began in 2014, construction started in 2019 and the marina should be open by Spring 2021 at the latest.
