PIANC Seeks Working Group Candidates

PIANC USA is seeking candidates for the following new PIANC Working Groups:

• MarCom Working Group 232 on “Metocean-related risks during the construction of marine works” – this Working Group will provide a guidance document on marine climate risks and risk management directly related to the construction stage of projects in the marine environment.
• MarCom/InCom Working Group 231 on “Mooring bollards & hooks: Selection, maintenance and testing” – the objective of the Working Group is to produce a benchmark document providing guidance and recommendations when specifying shoreside mooring equipment (from 200 kN upwards) including mooring bollards and quick release hooks, including a list of types and typical capacities for different ship sizes, and guidelines for the full scope of testing during the manufacturing process and subsequently after installation.
• MarCom Working Group 233 on “Inspection, maintenance and repair of waterfront facilities” – the objective for this group is will be to review, update, expand or revise the document to reflect more recent references that are useful but not global in scope. In doing so, additional topics such as service life modelling, drone-based visual and laser inspection techniques, and the latest generation of non-destructive testing and repair technology will be added. In addition, various inspection types will be defined, with details of their purpose and scope of work clearly defined.

PIANC USA can appoint a (1) principal representative, (2) an alternate, and (3) a “Young Professional” – someone aged 40 and under – to a working group. The Principal Representative should be able to attend meetings of the working group, which are usually held in a European city, approximately twice per year. PIANC USA does not provide travel or per diem expenses for working group participants, so this support must be provided by the individual or his/her agency/company. Please see the attached Terms of Reference (TOR) for specific information for these working groups.

Working Group Members should either be an Individual Member of PIANC, working for a Corporate Member, be an invited expert or be a member of a sister organization.
