MD Clean Marina Announces Re-Certifications
Published on April 28, 2022The Maryland Department of Natural Resources Clean Marina Program announced the following Clean Marinas completed successful re-certifications in recent weeks.
Clean Marina designation is good for three years (or until a property is sold) after which marinas are re-inspected to ensure they continue to meet award criteria.
The Clean Marina Program is also working with the Marine Trades Association of Maryland to hold “Welcome to Boating” clinics on May 12 and 13 at Sandy Point State Park in Maryland. The clinics are designed to help boaters improve basic but stressful skills so they are more likely to stay in the sport, and are safer. According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, 42 percent of new boaters leave the sport within five years. Research also shows that launching, retrieving, and docking boats are the most stressful part of the experience for all boaters. The clinics cover docking, launching, and safety, and are taught by Annapolis School of Seamanship and Boat US Foundation.
