Coast Guard Foundation Activates Emergency Disaster Relief Program
Published on October 6, 2022The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to strengthening the Coast Guard community and service by supporting members and families, announced the activation of its emergency disaster relief program to provide vital assistance to Coast Guard members and their families impacted by Hurricane Ian.
Hurricane Ian brought massive flooding and wind damage to the Southeast United States and will continue to impact the region in the coming days. In response, the Coast Guard Foundation is mobilizing its supporter base to aid Coast Guard members and families affected by this hurricane, as well as other natural disasters in the future.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, more than 5,000 Coast Guard members and families live and work in the storm’s path and could be impacted by the damaging effects of Hurricane Ian.
“When weather disasters like this strike, Coast Guard members are our first responders,” said Susan Ludwig, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “They leave their own families and damaged homes and property to step in to aid their neighbors who are in distress. Our emergency relief program offers our full support to Coast Guard heroes when and where they need us the most.”
