Rehabilitation Underway at New York Marina
Published on August 15, 2024Construction is well underway at New York’s Bayside Marina after the facility was heavily damaged during Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
The $7.9 million project that began construction in late 2023 is now 31% finished, with completion set for June 2025, according to the NYC Parks website.
Located on the Cross Island Parkway in Queens, the facility will receive a new concrete boat launch and new floating docks with finger piers. Existing timber piles in the floating dock section will be replaced with steel piles.
The city will rehabilitate piles and cross-members on the fixed main dock. The existing parking area will receive soil stabilization and new asphalt along with landscaping. Funding for the project came through federal and city pipelines.
