Norwalk River Railroad Bridge Project

As part of a larger project replacing the Norwalk River Railroad Bridge in Connecticut, SF Marina supplied a 378-foot concrete floating dock for ferries, tour boats, transients and Norwalk Maritime Aquarium support vessels during construction. The existing 562-foot-long four-span swing bridge is at the end of its lifetime of 127 years and will be replaced with a dual-span vertical lift bridge.

Cianbro and Middlesex Construction contractors installed the dock system which uses SF1230 concrete pontoons. The concrete floating docks are designed with a low center of gravity that remains stable through wave action, which should prove beneficial through the tugboat and barge activity expected during the project. The bridge is slated for completion in 2029.
