New Floating Dock System for St. Petersburg Yacht Club
Published on March 4, 2025St. Petersburg Yacht Club has unveiled a new dock system from SF Marina at its Florida facility. As part of a 10-year redevelopment plan, the new dock system offers greater slip widths and upgraded dockside amenities that will provide the yacht club with better infrastructure to host the national and international regattas for which the facility has become world-renowned.
“The transition from fixed concrete to floating concrete docks has been a dream come true,” said Corey Hall, CMO, St. Petersburg Yacht Club waterfront and club communications director. “Our members and guests are extremely impressed with the new layout and attractive appearance, and there’s a palpable excitement surrounding the marina.”
Hall credits the collaboration between SF Marina, designer Applied Technology & Management (ATM) and marine contractor Speeler & Associates for the renovation. SF Marina manufactured the custom concrete pontoons at its Gothenburg, Sweden facility. The internal utility ducts designed by ATM include power, fuel, potable water, fire-suppression water, wastewater, communications and security lines and electrical support for future EV vessels. The 33 floating concrete pontoons were shipped from Sweden to Tampa and floated to the yacht club via tug. The new docks are secured by 34 internal 20-inch piles with HDPE sleeves. With the new improvements in place, the club looks forward to the 2025 boating season.
