Florida Shipyard Improvements Include a 100-ton Travel Lift
Published on February 26, 2018RMK Merrill-Stevens, a Miami, Florida, shipyard is replacing its 70-ton travel lift with a new 100-ton travel lift to accommodate the service needs of a growing yacht market. The yard decommissioned its 1950’s-era shiplift, replacing it with a 2,700-ton shiplift. When work is completed the north yard will have multiple dry berths for boats up to 230 feet and in-water ranging from 130 feet to 450 feet. The new lift is located on the south side of the Miami River, while the new superyacht lift will be on north side. Both projects are part of a $30 million capital improvement campaign that will include new facilities, equipment, workshops and crew amenities. RMK Merrill-Stevens, founded in 1885, is a full-service shipyard, dedicated to the refit and repair of yachts and vessels. It is an official service and warranty center for Sealine, Fjord, Maori and Newport custom yachts.
