Maryland Certifies 149th Clean Marina
Published on July 9, 2018Nabbs Creek Marina in Glen Burnie, Maryland, has met all the environmental regulatory requirements and voluntary criteria to be certified as a Maryland Clean Marina. The marina was particularly noticed for its comingled recycling and new signs outlining dozens of ways boaters can prevent pollution while on-board.
Boatyards, marinas and yacht clubs participating in the Clean Marina program are evaluated on areas such emergency preparedness, stormwater management and waste containment and disposal. To pass, a facility must score between 75 to 85 percent in each area by implementing best practices found in the Maryland Clean Marina guidebook. Each Clean Marina is re-inspected every three years to ensure continued compliance. This certification brings the total number in the state to 149.
