Annual Plywood Regatta Held April 6 at Dania Beach
Published on April 8, 2019The Marine Industries Association of South Florida hosted the 23rd Annual Plywood Regatta on April 6 and 7 at Dania Beach Whiskey Creek, in Dania Beach, Florida. The two-day boat building and racing event brought together 33 teams of six to eight students to build, paint and decorate their uniquely designed vessels using hand tools, three sheets of plywood, fast-cure caulk and zip ties.
The event was open to middle school, high school and technical school students who competed in a series of heats to determine the overall winner. Awards were presented for beginner, intermediate and advanced divisions, overall winner’s cup and Fort Lauderdale Mariner’s Club top team award.
