Dock Upgrades at Southampton Marina

Shinnecock Bay Marina has undergone a series of upgrades to improve the Southampton, New York, facility. Strong’s Marine of Long Island, New York, which owns the marina, enlisted Marina Technologies (MTI) to replace the antiquated fixed timber frame docks with MTI’s aluminum floating dock system with composite decking. “The old floating timber docks were in poor condition and needed to be replaced,” said Ryan Strong, marina owner and manager. “We saw MTI aluminum-frame docks at Harris Bay Yacht Club and were totally impressed.”

The marina offers 46 wet slips, accommodating vessels up to 42 feet in length. “We wanted to move away from high-maintenance timber and find a better dock system that provided a long lifespan and minimal maintenance,” Strong said.

The team at Strong’s Marine performed extensive research before landing on MTI’s docking system. “The floating docks look beautiful,” Strong said. “We are already getting a lot of compliments.”

The marina also upgraded utilities and pedestals with the new system. The marina plans to add additional finger piers this spring that will attach easily to the track system on the new docks.
