Fire Extinguishers Recalled
Published on December 1, 2017Kidde has issued a recall for more than 40 million of its plastic handle and Pindicator fire extinguishers.
The nozzle on the extinguishers can become clogged or can detach under excessive force, meaning the extinguisher can fail to activate. The recall includes 134 models manufactured between January 1, 1973 and August 15, 2017, including models that had previously been recalled.
The models are either ABC or BC rated and came in red, white and silver colors. The model number can be found on the fire extinguisher label. The date of manufacture for units made after 2007 is a 10-digit code printed on the side of the cylinder with the last five digits representing the day and year of manufacture. Prior to 2007, date codes were not printed on the units.
