Marine Industry Employees Aid Recovery in Tortola

Employees from MarineMax, Correct Craft and Nautique spent three days in November on the island of Tortola helping residents recover from hurricane Irma. The workers cleared debris from the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, which is an important hub for education for local students and features a Technical and Marine Studies program, along with a wide variety of typical programs in Arts, Science, Business, Information Technology and Education.

The school was littered with debris and, without power, had no air conditioning or lights. Making roads accessible was the crucial first step needed to allow power repair crews to begin restoring electricity, and eventually have classes resume.

The British Virgin Islands overall are making progress in their recovery efforts and looking to assure tourists many attractions are again open for business. For updates on the recovery of the British Virgin Islands visit: http://bit.ly/2iIpCRg

“We are dedicated to supporting the residents and businesses of the British Virgin Islands. Tourism is an integral part of the economy of the islands, and we are committed to aiding the restoration,” said Brett McGill, President and COO of MarineMax.
