Maryland Clean Marina Recertifies Six Marinas
Published on August 1, 2022The following Clean Marinas were successfully reinspected by Maryland Clean Marina program staff and are re-certified for another three years:
- Chesapeake Harbour Marina, Annapolis
- Nabbs Creek Marina, Glen Burnie
- Ocean City Fishing Center
- Stoney Creek Bridge Marina, Curtis Bay
- Safe Harbor Oxford Boatyard
- Safe Harbor Zahniser’s, Solomons Island
Clean Marinas are certified for three years. After that period, or any time there is a change of ownership, Clean Marina Program staff arrange a site visit and verify the marina still meets the award criteria.
Marina can find out how clean they are by contacting the Clean Marina staff to come out for a site visit. Email donna.morrow@maryland.gov to ask questions and schedule an informal site visit. Marinas and boatyards are located at the water’s edge and can make a big difference in local water quality if they adopt pollution prevention measures. If a marina believes it meets the Clean Marina criteria, it can get the Clean Marina Award for protecting the waterways.
Marinas, boatyards, yacht clubs, community marinas, and marine facilities of all sizes are all eligible for the Clean Marina Award.
