MI Clean Marina Certifies Muskegon Yacht Club
Published on August 25, 2023The Michigan Clean Marina Program announced that Muskegon Yacht Club has been certified as a Michigan Clean Marina for three years through 2026. Additionally, 12 marinas have been recertified for the next 5 years as Michigan Clean Marinas. They are:
- Anchorage Marine – Holland
- Cedar River State Harbor – Cedar River
- Duncan L. Clinch Marina – Traverse City
- Grosse Pointe Yacht Club – Grosse Pointe Shores
- Lexington State Harbor – Lexington
- Linwood Beach Marina – Linwood
- Michigan Harbor – St. Clair Shores
- Safe Harbor Belle Maer – Harrison Twp.
- Seng’s Marina – Manistee
- South Shore Marine – Whitehall
- Walstrom Marine – Harbor Springs
- Woodland Marina – Brighton
One hundred and one Michigan marinas have obtained Certified Clean Marina status and are maintaining this certification.
As participants in the Michigan Clean Marina Program, marinas voluntarily pledge to maintain and improve Michigan’s waterways by reducing or eliminating releases of harmful substances and phasing out practices that can damage aquatic environments. Certified facilities are recognized as exemplary environmental stewards and must periodically recertify. Training and certification criteria address key topics, such as siting considerations, marina design and management, stormwater management, boat maintenance and repair, petroleum control, aquatic invasive species, sewage handling, waste containment, disposal and recycling, and laws and regulations.
The Michigan Clean Marina Program is a non-regulatory partner program between the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, Michigan Sea Grant. and Michigan Boating Industries Association.
