Natural Resources Management Act Awaits President’s Signature
Published on February 15, 2019The U. S. Senate passed S. 47, the Natural Resources Management Act, sending it to the President’s desk for signature. The bipartisan legislation, sponsored by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) addresses various programs, projects, activities and studies for management and conservation of natural resources on federal lands.
The legislation continues funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, supports enhanced operations at national parks wilderness areas, rivers, historic sites and other conservation and recreation areas, addresses wildland fire operations and search and recovery missions, and much more.
According to the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable, which fully supported the bill, the outdoor recreation economy accounts for $734 billion in output for the U.S. economy, supporting 4.5 million direct jobs and $887 billion in consumer spending.
