New Marina to Open Soon in Florida
Published on October 16, 2018Seahaven Superyacht Marina in Dania Beach, Florida, designed for large yachts up to 250 feet in length, is on track to open in late 2018.
Four years ago, the site of the marina was a five-acre vacant property, located along the side of the Dania cutoff canal, a major deep-water (17-foot) route in Fort Lauderdale. It’s also close to the Port Everglades inlet.
Seven Kings Holdings, owner of the Loggerhead Marina brand, bought the property and began the lengthy process of securing the necessary permits to excavate a marina basin. That work began in early 2018.
The new marina is approximately 400 feet wide by 360 feet long and has a depth of 15 feet. Because of its location along the Dania Beach cutoff canal, the site is protected not only from the tide but also from the wind, according to Ray Graziotto, of Seven Kings Holding.
Marinetek is supplying its “Superyacht Series” concrete floating docks for the new marina. “There are two docks that are 12 feet wide by 360 feet long, plus side-tie docking along each fixed wall with timber fender piles,” said Bob Berry, general manager of Marinetek. “The docks have stainless steel internal pile guides for 20-inch steel pipe piles with HDPE sleeves on the piles, 10-ton stainless steel bollards and a four-inch rubber D-fender along both sides.”
The docks are also equipped with in-slip pumpout, wet fire suppression systems, potable water, lighting and 480V-3P power. The docks’ surveillance camera system enables yacht owners to view their vessels at any time on the marina’s website.
Since the marina was designed for marginal docks, the number of yachts it can accommodate at any time will depend on the sizes of the vessels that are using it.
Seahaven Superyacht Marina will also have a 5,000-square-foot clubhouse that includes the marina’s offices, a clubroom with workout center and showers and a storage area for vessel owners to use.
