New Marina Opens in Georgia
Published on September 26, 2020The Waterways master-planned community near Savannah, Georgia, recently opened the first phase of its new marina. Boat owners chosen by lottery began using the dry-stack storage facility, known as the Bryan County Boat Launch Facility at Waterways, on July 22nd. It can accommodate 188 boats of up to 35 feet long.
The dry storage facility is located on the Reedbird Waterways within the Waterways Community. It offers a new, 25,000-pound capacity forklift, 400 linear feet of staging docks, five wash racks for the use of marina members and non-ethanol gas and diesel. The launching ramp for the marina will provide boaters with direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Great Ogeechee river, with the Atlantic Ocean just nine miles away by boat.
“I have been involved in this project since the day it broke ground, so being able to say boat storage is now open is incredibly surreal,” said Shane Strause, general manager of the Marina Village at Waterways. “We look forward to filling the facility with boats and beginning to see the marina come to life.”
When it is completed, the Marina Village will include townhomes, an open-air park and a mixed-use building that could offer retail, restaurant and fitness facilities.
