Ohio Clean Marina Awards First Platinum Designation
Published on June 25, 2018The Ohio Clean Marinas Program will honor Bay Point Resort & Marina with the program’s first Platinum Clean Marina designation on Friday June 29 at Bay Point Resort.
Ohio Clean Marinas Program is a voluntary certification program that recognizes marinas that implement conservation practices. Some of the added measures that marinas adopt include pollinator programs, monofilament fishing line recycling bins, planting native species and more. The initiative also provides education for boaters on how to prevent the transport of aquatic invasive species.
In 2017, Clean Marina staff piloted new criteria at five marinas across the state for further industry participation. With positive feedback, the program implemented new levels of certification, base, gold or platinum that are based on site-specific requirements for those marinas wishing to do even more to protect the environment.
Bay Point is the fist to achieve the program’s Platinum certification. Bay Point Resort and Marina has 805 slips, a 176 unit campground and residential development. It is located in Marblehead Ohio on Lake Erie and Sandusky Bay.
