RIMTA Solicits Employers to Host Summer Interns
Published on March 23, 2019The Rhode Island Marine Trades Association (RIMTA) is asking Rhode Island marine businesses to consider hosting an intern this summer under the PrepareRI program, which brings employers together with motivated high school students, matching employer needs and student interests.
Participating interns are comprised of rising juniors in a Rhode Island public high school interested in internships in marketing, social media, scheduling, data entry or customer service. All students are vetted by Skills RI and then matched with a company based on specified needs. The program runs from July 1 through August 23, with each student required to work at least 150 hours (25 to 35 hours for 6 to 8 weeks). Employers must agree to supervise and evaluate the interns. Skills RI acts as the employer of record, pays the students and handles all paperwork, liability and insurance.
