After the Silver Sailfish Derby concluded, anglers remained at Sailfish Marina for the Operation Sailfish tournament January 16 to 20. Sailfish teams vie for an $800,000 purse in the first leg of the Quest for the Crest Sailfish Series at Sailfish Marina.
Created by Bluewater Movements Inc., Operation Sailfish honors the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. In partnership with Operation Homefront, the tournament holds a “Take a Hero Fishing Day” each year which is designed to honor and support military veterans, active duty soldiers and wounded warriors by pairing them with teams out on the water for an exciting day of fishing.
Sailfish Marina hosts charitable events to benefit a variety of organizations and causes using its prime location as the closest marina to the Palm Beach/Lake Worth Inlet to host fishing tournaments which garner competitors from across the East Coast. Sailfish Marina supports local and national organizations such as the West Palm Beach Fishing Club, Autism Project of Palm Beach County, Renaissance Learning Academy, A Second Chance Animal Rescue and others. The marina also gives back by hosting the public in times of need, such as providing free meals to emergency service providers during hurricanes, hosting cookouts to benefit the local police, organizing beach cleanups and contributing funds for the Town Community Center.
