SandSpit Marina Completes Upgrades
Published on January 17, 2022Located in the Village of Pathogue in the Town of Brookhaven on Long Island, New York, SandSpit Marina offers 83 boat slips (both seasonal and transient), water and electrical service, and a fishing jetty. Over the last several years, the marina has been making several improvements to its aging facilities.
“We decided to do some capital investing. Since the jetty was a big factor in boating safety and in erosion, and had been destroyed by storms, we rebuilt that about two or three years ago,” said Neil Foley, who serves on the Town of Brookhaven Council. “We completely rebuilt the jetty and installed a walkway on top of it.”
The town also replaced the marina’s bulkheads and installed a small lighthouse with a working light on the jetty. “It’s a nice landmark for boaters at night,” said Foley. The marina is now fully paved, and is getting a new pump out facility as well.
The final part of this current round of improvements is now underway. The town demolished the existing bathrooms building last fall and is building a new bathroom facility which should be completed by March 2022.
