SC College Receives Grant for Marine Technology Training

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) has been awarded a grant of $200,000 by the Southeast Crescent Regional Commission (SCRC). This grant, a part of the Fiscal Year 2023 State Economic and Infrastructure Development (SEID) awards, is designated for acquiring advanced equipment for the forthcoming HGTC Marine Technology Center, located on the Georgetown Campus.

Construction is slated to begin on the Marine Technology Center in 2025. The state-of-the-art facility will specialize in the education of students in outboard marine technology and boatbuilding technology disciplines. The investment in top-Mer equipment, made possible by the SCRC grant, is set to be a cornerstone in nurturing the marine technology leaders of tomorrow.

Registration for the fall semester is now underway. Classes begin August 26. Apply for FREE. For more information about applying, enrolling, and registering at HGTC, call 843-347-3186 or visit www.hgtc.edu.
