Sea Tow Accepting Applications For Life Jacket Loaner Program
Published on November 13, 2020If your organization, business or agency is interested in hosting and/or maintaining a Sea Tow Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Station, now is the time to apply. The 2021 Life Jacket Loaner Program Grant is now open and loaner stations will be stocked with life jackets in a variety of sizes available for boaters to borrow free of charge for a day out on the water. Applications are due by February 1, 2021 and can be accessed here https://www.boatingsafety.com/page/2021-life-jacket-grant-application
A limited number of life jacket loaner stand building kits will be available to be shipped to organizations, businesses or agencies at no additional cost. These kits will be shipped in a large box and instructions will be included to assemble the pre-cut pieces. Signage will be provided as well for the top of the stand. Funding may also be available for those wishing to build their own stand. Building plans will be available upon request to help with the design of the loaner stand and signage will be made available as well.
Those selected to receive the loaner stations are required to sign a Terms and Conditions Document with the Sea Tow Foundation agreeing to complete monthly online reports from the time the life jackets are shipped to in May through the end of September. These reports will be available online and are accessible by mobile phone, tablet or computer and will include an estimated count of the life jackets borrowed each month along with a photo of the stand. An example of last year’s monthly reporting form is available at http://www.boatingsafety.com/loaner-life-jacket-count-form/ and a webinar was recorded to explain how to report on the use of the life jackets.
