“Spring Aboard” Aims to Educate Boaters
Published on March 19, 2018March 18 to 24 is the “Spring Aboard” campaign sponsored by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and the BoatUS Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water. The campaign reminds boaters that spring is a good time to take a boating safety course as preparation for the upcoming boating and fishing season. During this time educational programs will be promoted, with some states offering discount pricing. BoatUS offers a free online boating safety course in 36 states that meets state standards for receiving a boater’s license or certificate of completion. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, 80 percent of boating deaths occurred on boats where the operator had never received boating education instruction. NASBLA and BoatUS are encouraging boaters to protect themselves and their crews by taking a safe boating course. For more information click here.
