Upgrades to Clearwater Marina
Published on July 5, 2024Marina Technologies (MTI) recently completed the installation of a new wave attenuator at Clearwater Harbor Marina in Clearwater, Florida. Having failed at its pile guides and corner braces, the marina’s old outer wave attenuator demanded immediate attention. As part of Phase 1 of the replacement project, MTI installed its Floating Breakwater Series concrete floating dock at the attenuator’s south end. The MTI Concrete Wave Attenuating docks are 13 by 50 feet and 6 feet high, with dual keels, 316 stainless steel pile guides and flexible connections to provide stability yet flexibility through sustained wave action. The docks are anchored with 30-foot steel pipe piles with HDPE sleeves. The 22-inch cleats lining the dock are rated to 10-ton capacity. The new system is designed to mitigate wave action in the inner harbor during hurricane conditions for decades to come.
